I live in sunny Florida and enjoy gardening and orchid growing, sewing/quilting, my pets, genealogy, and occassional bird watching. I work for City government and have been married 21 years. I have a collection of Hull pottery but I no longer buy it - I just enjoy what I have!
I recently went back to college and finished my BS in Business Management - during those 2 1/2 years all I read was textbooks. Now that finished this summer I am reading for enjoyment again. So far in the last 8 weeks I've read 7 books! All the easy-reading "Cat Who" series. Nothing too serious for this burned out student, LOL.
I am pretty open to color and styles whenit comes to arts and handmade crafts. Sometimes what works best isn't necessarily my favorites (home decorating is good example). I love soft colors like peach and apricot. I also like many dark colors such as teal. Neutrals are pleasing too with taupe being my favorite closely followed by white.
I have 4 pets but don't tell my homeowner's association. I have an elderly cat and an elderly chihuahua. I also have two prime age rat terriers. They are just a wonderful breed!
I moved to Florida after living 15 years in Alaska so it was quite a transition. Prior to Alaska I lived in Seattle. I've also lived in New Orleans, New Mexico, and was born in Arkansas. Bit of a gypsy.
I like funny or serious movies. My husband says I like interpersonal relationship movies a.k.a. chick flicks. Some of my favorites include Terms of Endearment, Fried Green Tomatoes,Steel Magnolias, Sleeper, Charlie Chan movies, Cool Runnings, Urban Cowboy to name a few.
I mostly listen to Public Radio because I enjoy it's programming (such as Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me and This American Life)but also because I appreciate classical music. On Saturday afternoons during opera season my mom & I usually listen to the live broadcast from the Met. I also like jazz and listen to a smooth jazz radio station sometimes and have lots of its on my iPod. Old Motown hits are also a favorite of mine.
In terms of crafts or artistic endeavours, I am a quilters first. But, not the large bed sized quilts - I am a miniature quilter. I like to sew costumes for me, my hubby and my dogs too. In high school I earned money sewing for others (mostly recycling denimun into clothing and purses) instead of babysitting. I was a Rainbow Girl so there was always the need for a long dress and sewing let me get exactly what I wanted and fitted to perfection!

Good morning Vicki...I havent owned a computer but for about 8 years...I think we bought our first one around Feb. 2001.....The HGTV Quilting and Needlework Forum has been my home since 2003. Do you frequent that forum?
I cant wait to see the dotee you have created for me.. :-)
Hi Vicki..I just figured out how to see who sends to you in a swap. You will be sending a Halloween Dotee Doll to me for your first swap. I look forward to seeing what you will create! I see you loved watching Fried Green Tomatoes! I have watched that movie more times than I have fingers and toes! :-)
Thanks ladydy5. I may be new to Swap-bot but I'm not new to creating or swapping. I've done round and row robins in quilting. Disappointly not everyone followed through and I still have two pieces floating out there in cyberland from years gone by :(
Glad to have you in my swaps. Newbies need to be appreciated too.
