A cup of tea and a magazine page #2

Someone asked if it has a to be an original magazine page or could they use a photocopy if they don't want to rip their magazine up. I think that's fine as long as it's a good quality colour photocopy.

What a lovely idea. Can I just mention that please make sure that the mag article I get be in English? Also that the tea I receive is wheat/gluten free? Thanks :)

Hi all, if I get to choose I'm a coffee head or a herbal tea drinker, Thanks. Last time I was sent a "wild sweet orange" tea from +azo it was yummy and try as I might I cannot buy it in New Zealand - hint hint hint.

I think neatly folded is fine, as it's international, so we don't want everyone to spend too much on postage. :) It's just the old rule, send something that you'd be happy to receive.

This might seem like I'm picking on Nellbe but I really don't mean to. It's just that she brings up two things that have piqued my interest.

1) In many parts of the world magazines in English are outrageously expensive. Even though I am a native English speaker I now live in Sweden and all of the magazines I have are in Swedish because the ones I would normally buy for $2-3 in the States are more than $10 here. I have given up on them and only buy magazines in English on visits to English-speaking countries. I can therefore guarantee that my partner will get a page in Swedish, as I would expect that the page I get will be in the language of where it is sent from.

2) What is gluten-free tea? I know that sounds like a stupid question since it is obviously tea without gluten, but what is the gluten part of tea to begin with? I've never seen "gluten-free" on a box of tea bags so if I get someone with allergies I don't want to make them sick so what other clues do I look for that a tea is gluten-free?

Again, I don't mean to pick on Nellbe. I'm just curious.

Thanks CP for your questions. If sending something in Swedish is easier then please do so... these hints are just those - hints. I just thought if I said English then it may help the person that gets me... just trying to make their life easier.

Sorry for the assumption that you knew what gluten free means. Some tea has additives that are have wheat/barley/malt/oats/rye in them and this is what gluten is. Some in tea in Australia does... of course not all countries may do that.

CP, good point about the expense of o/s magazines. I know if I buy American ones in Australia they can cost over $10! So if that's a problem, maybe pick your page with lots of gorgeous pics rather than text, and maybe even a bit of a translation for the reader... that's sort of a nice idea too, as it makes it more personal.

Yeah, some people get really really sick from anything with gluten in it, so I think it makes sense for Nellbe to mention that. Just do your best for your partner, is all we can ask. :)

Oh I totally understand about people having reactions to gluten, I had just never heard of it in tea before and wanted to know what to look for since I had never seen "gluten-free" on a box of tea bags before. No worries. :)

I love all sorts of tea but due to allergies need to avoid any thing with critic acid in it. As an American I'd prefer an article in english - but wouldn't mind at all getting one in another language. It may just be me but I think it would be kind of fun to translate a short (hint if it is another language) article in another language.

Hi all. I'd like to request no coffee for me as it gives me migraines. Any tea is great though (or chocolate, or cider). As to languages, I'm fine with anything. I'm fluent in english, and can read a bit of french or spanish, but would welcome any new thing to read.

Hi everyone, I love all kinds of coffee and tea so any type is good with me. as for the article i know a little french and spanish but i'll take any language you want to send. i love the idea of getting something in a language other than english even if i cant read it. :)

i can't wait to do this one- i'm secretly hoping for something i get the chance to have a new exposure to a new culture/language/flavors.. oh my gosh- i can't believe those prices (silly!) i think it'd be fun to see examples from different places whether its in english or not, translation is available! hehe.. i know some italian and spanish, and bits of french and arabic.. it'll be fun wherever this comes from, just the excitement of mail even. this is my second attempt at a swap. i hope this actually happens, because in my first swap(december birthdays), i didn't receive anything :'( i was discouraged for a while, but alas, my hope has returned.. let the fun begin! :)

I start my day with a cup of tea--mostly regular, but lately I've been trying different flavors. Pomegrante...it was good. Any tea is good for me. English article is preferred.

I would LOVE love love the magazine piece to be in another language! It would be so interesting to see how other countries lay out their magazines, the types of ads they have and what their written language looks like.

Of course anything in English is great, because then I'll be able to read it!

This sounds like such a great swap. While English is my primary language, I can read a little French, and am learning Japanese. I also LOVE coffee, tea is great too. Can't wait!

I'm a native English speaker and am currently learning French and need to practice my Spanish. If I am to receive a magazine article in a language other than what I know, I would love one that includes tons o' pretty pictures. I also love to try new teas. Thanks! :)

I'm a tea lover (anything but oolong - it gives me hives for some reason) but coffee, cocoa or cider are great as well. As for an article, anything goes! I read English and German but anything would be cool to get. It would be even cooler if it was some sort of crafting article. :)

That brings my question into play... does it matter what the article is about? Just something that is listed in our partner's profile or just a nice article?

Hi everyone this is for my partner to read I love Teas all sorts of Teas.So I like pretty much of anything - except a few that I CAN'T have:

But there are 2 things that I CANNOT have due to health issues NO CAFFEINE NOTHING WITH HONEY IN IT - I am allergic to Honey (watch the Chai teas sometimes they have Honey in them) When in doubt look at the ingredients on the box

Other than that I can have pretty much of anything

You might want to go thru the posts if you get someones name just IN CASE they maybe allergic to something so maybe it is a good idea to look at them :) I know I am allergic to Honey and some others can't have certain things to - just a suggestion it is best to look for your partners post even if you don't want to
