Description:

Everyone seemed to enjoy being a part of this one, last time, so here's round two!

If you're like me, you love magazines from overseas, whether they be craft, fashion, decorating etc. ...But they cost lots to buy!

So I thought we'd have a swap with 1 partner of a magazine from their country, or if you're both from the same country, a magazine you want but can't get your hands on.

This is an international swap, everyone welcome. Post your magazine preferences in the comments so your partner knows what you like...eg. I like sewing, Japanese craft, and decorating. If you have any preferences regarding the language your mag is in, post that too.

I know magazines can be heavy, and this is an international swap, so if you choose to post surface/sea mail -it costs less - :P just msg your partner and let them know.

Newbies are welcome, just message me when you sign up to say hi! And please fill out your profile, otherwise I'll have to ban you. If I think your ratings are suspicious, I may ban you also. Email me if you need to let me know what's going on. Thanks.

Any questions, please get in touch.

Happy swapping.

Hi...I like Japanese fashion magazines, foriegn music magazines, or foriegn tattoo magazine. If I get a partner is the USA too, I live in nowhere north america... Interview, Inked Magazine, or goth/punk magazine is good...

yarnpie 02/ 3/2007 #

My requests are: if my partner is from any country other than the US - please send me a knitting magazine (that is not Rowan - I subscribe). As I already subscribe to most US knitting magazines, if you are from the US please send a cool craft magazine or something like martha stewart. Thanks, can't wait to get my partner!

mazzam 02/ 3/2007 #

My preference is for knitting magazines although I already subscribe to Knitting, Simply Knitting, Yarn Forward and Interweave Knits. Any other artsy/crafty magazine would be welcome though.

dimanche 02/ 4/2007 #

I like food, decorating, and crafty magazines (but NOT knitting/sewing/etc). A regional food magazine would be perfect! Any language is okay with me.

One request I have is for issues of Maximum Rock 'n' Roll... I can't seem to get my hands on it anymore.

Baglady 02/ 4/2007 #

Hi, I like all magazines so anything is fine but I really like anything to do with fashion, home, crafts or scrapbooking.

user6104 02/ 4/2007 #

Hi Drewzel: I signed up for a 2nd swap tho I'm waiting to hear from you re: cuppa tea & magazine. These are so wonderful. I'm a magazine addict: I read and can offer monthly titles Oprah, Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, Woman's Day, Quick & Simple (great women's weekly). I would love to receive anything British, anything about cooking in english and any beginners crochet magazine. I work at a university where mailing priviledges is NOT an problem. Look forward to hearing from you. Rae

drewzel 02/ 4/2007 #

Hi Rae, I just messaged you :)

drewzel 02/ 4/2007 #

I'd love a crochet magazine. If you're from the US, a copy of Lucky, or Rebecca knitting would be great. Or any of those "lifestyle" mags where they have decorating, cooking, gardening and crafting. Or a beading magazine. Or surprise me, I'm just a magazine addict!

user6162 02/ 7/2007 #

hello! i'm new to this... i love magazines from japan and britain... knitting and sewing magazines... crafty ones... beautiful ones... fashion ones... i guessi'm not to picky...

drewzel 02/ 7/2007 #

Okay, so I've just banned one person who signed up and then pulled out and messed up stuff in the last magazine swap. The person is from the same country and has virtually the same name as the last troublemaker so I don't like doing this but I'm quite annoyed with what happened in the other swap.

If it's you and you think you're being treated unfairly, please message me. thanks.

ukquilter 02/ 8/2007 #

I subecribe to quite a few mags so none of the following please: Yoga Journal, Sunday Times Travel. Quilters Newsletter, New Zealand Quilter, Down Under Quilts, British Patchwork and Quilting, Australian Patchwork and Quilting, Quilting Arts, Mslexia

I'd love to get soemthing about paper crafts and rubber stamping, altered books, fabric journals ATCs etc. (All stuff I don't do ..yet... but am intrigued by. I saw the US Rubber Stamping magazine in Borders and was sorely tempted but UK price was very expensive. Same for Cloth Paper Scissors. Or a cooking magazine would be great too. or maybe one full of book reviews....

knitagirl 02/13/2007 #

Hey, I'm a newbie. This swap sounds like a great one to be my first. I love knitting/crafts. I subscribe to Simply Knitting/Knit Today, so if my partner is British, then any other crafting magazine besides them please.

Besides that I would love any American Knitting/Craft/Fashion magazines or something Japanese please.

Please no papercrafts/quilting magazine.

I'm excited!

user6134 02/16/2007 #

Hi, I'm a newbie, too. This is such a great swap...as I love magazines, too.

My preference is for craft, art or home decorating magazines, especially for children. If you're from the US, I'd love a copy of Craft, Adorn, American Patchwork & Quilt, Domino, Kids' Rooms, Amelia's Magazine or Graphic.

Please don't send scrapbooking or knitting magazines.

inamerica8 02/16/2007 #

I'm a newbie and I'm interested in magazines on religion, cooking and if overseas news.

sewmad 02/18/2007 #

Hi, I´m a newbie, too, and I hope I´m allowed to participate... this swap sounds fun! I´ve participated in an other mag swap (blog-organized) last year and really received wonderful magazines. I´m from germany, so I really love everything that´s from \"outside\" my country, so us/english, french, japanese or italian magazines are warmly welcomed! My faves are sewing (no threads mag please, I´ve got a subscription for that one!) and knitting. I also love general crafting (got a subscription on \"craft:zine\") and quilting.

jennyb 02/24/2007 #

another new girl on the swap scene - well the swap bot scene at least!

sadly can only read english - wish i had kept up learning french and german, am regreting that now!

I like cooking/food type magazines - the healthier the better! or greetings card making (ATC i think you call them on here)

i like gardening too - veggies tho not flowers

i'm so excited to see what magazines from other parts of the world are like compared to the UK!!

honeybee 02/26/2007 #

I like general crafts, sewing, scrapbooking, and paper crafts magazines. It can be in any language as long as there are pictures that I can follow. I also wouldn't mind back issues of magazines (as long as they are in good condition and not missing pages).

Lunaria 02/27/2007 #

I love beading/jewelry making magazines especially if there is an article on polymer clay ( I already get Polymer Clay Cafe); anything on glass art; nature; a local magazine from your area; National Geographic; cinema/film magazine. I don't mind gently used back issues, in fact I encourage recycling. Can't wait!

user6642 02/28/2007 #

I just signed up for this swap and would love any scrapbooking or cardmaking magazine. I´m not picky it can be any scrapbooking magazine, if my partner is from UK there is one called Scrapbook Magic or soemthing like that and I loved it!

Cardmaking, paper bag albums, rubber stamping or anything like that would be perfect.

Thanks again!

marchingstars 03/ 3/2007 #

Being in the UK I feel I should sign up to help even up the US/international balance! Anyways, I'm interested in: - Feminist magazines (like Bitch (I have the green one though) and Bust) - Maybe like philosophy related? - Music (I like "indie music"- see profile) - Teen girl magazines that aren't full of sterotypical girlie stuff (I used to love ElleGirl till it closed...)

user1506 03/ 6/2007 #

I like crafty magazines, cross stitch, paper crafts, and decorating. If i get a UK partner, i would looooooove to receive the UK edition of Elle Decoration, it is my favorite magazine. I am addicted to japanese craft mags too.

Looking forward to this swap, all my previous mag swaps were great!

moniqued 03/ 7/2007 #

And yet another newbie! Hi everyone. I love craft magazines, especially from the UK and Aus, but anywhere else is fine. I would like crochet or general crafting, but no scrapbooking or paper crafting. English please, unless it has lots of pictures to follow. If you're from the US, I would love the new Craft, I already get Crafts, Crafts n'Things, Crochet World, Hooked on Crochet.

birdbeth 03/10/2007 #

teafig 03/13/2007 #

Hi...I'm fairly new, this will be my 3rd swap. If my partner is from the US, I would love DIY crafty magazines like ReadyMade (no scrapbooking or sewing), or home decorating, embroidery, or anything similar. If from outside the US, I would love anything doing with Scandinavian design, anything Icelandic (if possible), or Japanese crafts. Thanks!

Housewife 03/13/2007 #

I like fashion, crafts, travel, home decorating, general women's, and artsy ones from the US. Except for Real Simple (I subscribe). I'm open to anything from outside of the US. Thanks! :)

nifwlseirff 03/13/2007 #

I'd really love to receive a Japanese language magazine: cooking, interior design, gardening, manga/anime or lifestyle magazines, or something like Nihongo Journal!

If that is not possible, cooking (any language), cross stitch/quilt/crochet (in English) or a lifestyle magazine (in English/German) will be well received. :-)

user6941 03/13/2007 #

Hey! This is my first swap and I'm really, really excited! I'd love to receive an international fashion magazine (i.e. Japanese, British, French, German, Australian) or an international craft magazine with a lot of cultural influence. If my partner is from the US though I would love to receive a DIY crafty magazine or a fashion magazine that might only be found in your area.

user5532 03/14/2007 #

I prefer craft magazines and I love japanese, and Marie Clair idees but I have yet to get my hand on one and I would love one of these

user6886 03/15/2007 #

Since I am a newbie to SB I am not sure how we get our partners. Will they be assigned to us and then we will send what is on their list? Please let me know. Thanks. Looking forward to the swap.

user6317 03/15/2007 #

Hello! I live in the US + will be shipping out media mail! :D I have Entertainment Weekly, RollingStone, New Beauty Magazine (the only $15 plastic surgery mag!), Glamour, Instyle, Harper's Bazaar, Gameinformer, Electronic Gaming Monthly, Stuff, and GQ.... Phew!

I would like to trade with anybody really, but I like especially National Geographic, Literary Journals, Adventure/Exotic Travel mags, really old or exotic fashion magazines, and comic books.

diamondx 03/16/2007 #

hi im a newbie and signed up for this swap so please could i have the mags in english and i would love papercraft mags from abroad or rock mags for my daughter abi who is a mosher

mysterygirl 03/16/2007 #

I REALLY REALLY want.. the Italian Rolling Stone? Err.. I think that's it. It has Courtney Love on the cover.

Otherwise, high fashion from overseas. Vogue and magazines of that sort. Or music magazines that are similar to the US's Blender. (I don't know if they have a different version of Blender or Blender at all overseas..) It's kind of quirky and tongue-in-cheek a lot of the time.

user5257 03/16/2007 #

Hi, I subscribe to domino, mary engleberts, cooking light, cottage living. I would like something about travel, home, cooking, japanese craft, or fashion. Thank You

Wierdlings 03/17/2007 #

Adorn magazine is a great magazine and it covers LOTS of crafty subjects.

~Wierdlings, in no way related or employed by Adorn.. hehe

artgeek 03/18/2007 #

I only read English, but would be interested in non-English magazines with great photographs or illustrations.

My household has subscriptions to PaperCrafts and O Magazine, so please don't send those. Additionally, I don't knit or crochet, so those wouldn't be useful to me. I have a preference for magazines about papercrafting (anything from stamping to altered books), but would also enjoy magazines about general crafting, feminism, travel, or photography. I'm not so keen on generic fashion and entertainment magazines, but check out my likes/dislikes in my profile and make your best judgement call.

Looking forward to this!

jeanland 03/18/2007 #

I would love a fashion (super model) magazine from especially Europe but anywhere other than the USA would be wonderful. I can send just about any American magazine internationally. I really like French & Italian fashion magazines from 1988-1995 but a new one would also be nice. I love the fashion of the late 1980s and early 1990s! Thank you so much for including me! :)

teafig 03/19/2007 #

Hi - I love Scandinavian or Japanese design/crafts/interiors. I already subscribe to Domino, Sunset, and Body + Soul...

swapperk 03/19/2007 #

Hi! I participated in the first swap, but unfortunately my partner was a flake - no mag for me! So I wanted to give it another shot! I like British magazines such as Gardening, Home Decorating (not fancy stuff, that kinda stuff for us regular folks!!), Knitting, but not Simply Knitting (I have a subscription), Prima is another. If you are from another country, any of the above categories would be the best as well. Thanks!!

user7083 03/20/2007 #

user6825 03/23/2007 #

I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the USA. I'd love any design magazine (architecture, general design, etc...), any shelter, home design, home decorating magazines. My favorite is Living, Etc. if you happen to be from the UK. I also like anything having to do with paper crafts. English is not required as long as it has great photos to look at! If you happen to also be from the US, I would love any magazine regional to where you live, especially home design. In Philly we have Philly Home & Garden, something like that. Or any paper craft mag since I haven't bought one of those in awhile.

LaDolceVita 03/23/2007 #

I would love to get any sort of fashion magazine, even from America because I don't subscribe to any but even better if it's international. I subscribe to Domino, Lucky, Blueprint, Adorn (but any previous issues would be greatly appreciated!), Real Simple and Martha Stewart. just to give you an idea of what I read already. I can only read English, but French or Italian magazines would be fun anyway! Thanks!

user6666 03/26/2007 #

Hello- I have just sent my very first swap off and am excited to sign up for another. I am a magazine addict so it doesn't take much to please me, however, if you are in the U.S. chances are I already have it! But that't ok too, right? I I would love to have Marie Clair Idees, or any Japanese Crafting....A British Home and Garden type. Basically the same magazines we all want here in the U.S.!

sparklebluefaery 03/27/2007 #

I speak French fluently and would love any magazine in French! If you can't get a hold of a magazine in french, any magazine dealing with Art, Yoga, natural living/foods, National Geographic, or travel would be great. I can't seem to find "Artist's Sketchbook" magazines anymore. I really love that magazine.

AlwaysFreed 03/28/2007 #

I am so excited for this swap. I love DIY (do-it-yourself) craft magazines, and if you are not from the US, I can only read English, so no foreign languages. I also love knitting magazines. YAY!!!

gramsbuttonbox 03/29/2007 #

CAUTION - to ALL swap-bot swappers -

If you EVER come across a swapper with ANY of the following info, BEWARE - she has been scamming swap-bot since the beginning, I don't know if she EVER has sent anything!

JENNA ~ PERRY ~ QUIGLEY ~ Oak Street ~ EUGENE ~ OREGON

She is NOW using the swap-bot ID "Aloha"

(Any of those words in her email, website, or swap name - do NOT send to her, unless she sends and her items are RECEIVED!)

She now has a rating of 1 - which is a good thing, once she deletes her profile, which she probably will do, those will all disappear - -

SO MAKE A NOTE OF THE ABOVE - - AND BEWARE!

MaryB

SnaughtyGirl 03/29/2007 #

Hello - I am fairly new to swap-bot, but since I crave magazines (and am made to feel guilty about buying them) this is the perfect swap for me. I live in the UK and like most kinds of magazines - movie mags (Empire rules), crafting, home decor and design, health and fitness, hair mags, etc. If my partner is from the U.S., I would LOVE a copy of Craft: or Domino (can't seem to find them here). If my swap partner is from a country other than a (primarily) English-speaking one, I don't mind if the mag is in a foreign language - beautiful pictures or great design is just as good, in my opinion. Looking forward to it!

innocentcharmer 03/30/2007 #

Hello - I am a newbie, thats spends a fortune on mags so this is a great one for me, I buy about 30 a month lol. I don't mind the mag type, i buy currently, girly, celebrity, house and home, crafting, clothes, fashion. Thanks Kara

tannermom 03/30/2007 #

I have quite an electic taste in magazines and have saved some for years...now I know why. Really interested in photography and collage type designs from any country. Can't wait to swap.

Fredgirl 03/30/2007 #

I am a swap-bot newbie and a magazine addict! I would love to get a copy of a Japanese amigurami (crocheted animals and dolls) mag, but have been told they are super hard to follow if you don't read Japanese. One is English would make my day. I love to travel and cook, craft and garden. I have a four year old son, so something from a country other than the US about parenting or fun things to do with kids would be neat (I get every parenting mag in the US because I am a writer for those mags). English would be best to get the most out of it, but something silly or funny in any language would be interesting.

sharonb 03/31/2007 #

I can only read English! I enjoy craft, scrapbooking (I subscribe to Scrapbook Inspirations), knitting, homemaking, fashion, cookery magazines but have very little interest in celebrities.

memmu 03/31/2007 #

Hi! I love magazines... especially the lifestyle, paper crafts, japanese!!!, house and home, decorating magazines. I love the pretty pictures so the language doesn't matter :). I like Marie Claire Idées, Living, Blueprint and that kind of mag's for example.

I think I'll be sending a Finnish magazine to my swap partner... hope she loves it even though she probably doesn't understand the language. We have english magazines available over here but they usually cost so much as they are foreign.

knitagirl 04/ 1/2007 #

Shouldn't we have had our partner details by now?

sharonb 04/ 1/2007 #

Thought it was just me!

drewzel 04/ 1/2007 #

Partners are up! Happy swapping!

sabuja 04/ 1/2007 #

Hello partner (whoever you are!)! I would be thrilled if you send me anything about paper (scrapbooking, stamping, postcards...). beading or anything craft related... Please don't send knitting, crochetting or fashion magazines. Thanks :)

Jensenaddict 04/ 1/2007 #

Hi, I would appreciate a knitting magazine but I subscribe to Interweave Knits, and have just bought the spring issues of Vogue and Knit It! (US), Knitting and Knit Today (UK). But old issues, especially of Interweave Knits from 3 years ago, would be much appreciated. But anything would do, really. Thanks

user7344 04/ 1/2007 #

I would like Japanese craft magazines, Japanese hair braiding as well, I currently subscibe to Doll Crafter, Fired Arts and Crafts. Any craft magazines dealing with ceramics, glass, doll making would be greatly enjoyed. thanks :)

hanjiwest 04/ 2/2007 #

i like mags that are not mainstream, especially zines. mags from other countries especially appreciated. chances are if you like it so will i...surprises are great!

user6602 04/ 2/2007 #

Would like any "non" USA craft magazines as I subscribe to most. Any UK magazines would be great, I also like any home/house magazines that are not USA ones, as again I subscribe to most.

Thanks,

UK Girl (living in the USA)

user6029 04/ 2/2007 #

I also like any astronomy magazines since my subscriptions to all of those (Astronomy, night sky, Sky and Telescope have run out). I also like any kind of regional magazine. i enjoy Sunset magazines, Yankee, etc. Just about anything will do. Thanks!

NEONLIGHTS 04/ 3/2007 #

I'm late, hope not too much... : ) I love fashion magazine such Nylon or Jane, but I like design too... thank you to my swap-pal! Sonic

user5648 04/ 5/2007 #

Hello! For me a magazine about literature in English or German or French or Spanish would be the first choice or a vogue or other fancy womens magazine. My second preference would be a magazine about Star Trek. I would like a magazine about cats as well, or about nature, but not dogs and not fishing. A childrens or teen magazine for about 10 year olds and older would be fine, too (I mean this magazines which come along with small gifts). Japanese craft like Origami would be cool, too. I like Ducktales, Mickey Mouse and Star Trek, too. I guess I gave you a lot of possibilities so that you can find something for me. Surprise me with your choice!

Unfortutanety I didn`t get a magazine last time so hopefully I have more luck this time.

dimanche 04/ 5/2007 #

neonlights- the partner assignment is random, so you do not send to the same partner you receive from. i am your partner so i'll be sending you something in english :)

knitagirl 04/ 5/2007 #

birdbeth - i finally chose a magazine for you. i hope you like it - its one of my favourites to sit and drool over the pictures :o) let me know when you receive it - the british postal system can be a little discombobulated sometimes... x

Starwatcher 04/ 6/2007 #

Quick question - do these have to be NEW magazines, or just ones in good shape? (not torn, not cut up etc).

user6886 04/ 6/2007 #

Elena, I hope you enjoy the magazine it went out in todays mail. Enjoy!

SnaughtyGirl 04/ 7/2007 #

OOOOo yey! I'm so glad it got to you, Birdbeth. I've been reading my copy and wishing my house looked like the rooms on the pages. Glad you liked the extras too - I thought they were nice and seasonal :o)

Can't wait to receive my magazine now - have been so impatient to get it lol.

hanjiwest - am I spoiled or what? What a wonderful package. The mag and zine are most inspiring and the pinapple gummies were gone really fast - yum! Thank you SO much. I'm posting pics in the gallery.

Hi Ilysa...

I am so glad that you liked the magazine. Somerset makes the best craft magazines cause they aren't the typical craft ones...

Love, kimmie

happylivingdesign--I got the magazines today--Thank you so much, I love Craft and it's the issue that I've been wanting, and Create & Decorate is also one of my favorites as well, they always have a lot of needlepunch projects and I hadn't bought this issue. Thanks so much!

I am new here and would love some Dutch interiors magazines! I can trade any US mags in return, I have access to them all. One I really want is this one: http://decor8blog.com/2007/09/27/101-woonideeen/
