Description:

This is going to be a two part swap.

First Part-

You will make a flat traveler(paper doll/animal) and journal

Send them to your swap partner

Second Part-

Swap partner will take around their visitor and take pictures and write in a journal of all the adventures your traveler is having.

Then after 2 weeks your swap partner will send your traveler back to you with it's journal and pictures.

  • You can also send back with the traveler little items that they collected while they were visiting you. Brochures of places yall went, flowers/leaves, keychain, postcards, ect.

*Include your address in the package so your swap partner will know where to send back your traveler.

It is a good idea to put your name and either snail mail address or email address on the back of your traveler also.

Covering your traveler with clear contact paper or laminating it is also a good idea so your traveler has a better journey to and from home.

Ratings 4.3 or higher. If you have a lower rating or are a newbie and want to participate please contact and we will discuss it.

I will be doing this swap with my 8 year old daughter, so it will be a paper kid of her that will be having the adventure! If you get us, she has a keychain collection so it would be great if she could get one from where you are from! :D

i wouyld love to do this with my grands but I am in Florida on vacation and they are at home. Maybe next time!

MommysCrafting 06/11/2007 #

I will be doing this with my 4 & 5 year old. Sounds like a lot of fun!!

gurugurl 06/11/2007 #

My son 8 year old son is going to love this. Just a hint - if we get ours before the 26th, the flat traveler can go to scout day camp!

uniqueutopia 06/11/2007 #

My son that will be participating is 8 and collects science things. Bug catchers, foam board (for mounting butterflies)magnifying glasses, or neat rocks. He's going to love this :)

cool. Just so I have this right...

We send our Stanley out by 6/27 and then my partner sends Stanley pack with package by 7/11. Is that right?

user7099 06/11/2007 #

ok sorry to post again, but I'm a little worried about the short turn around time. If we don't get our Stanley until the following week, we won't have much time to take him around. KWIM?

user7698 06/12/2007 #

You keep the traveler for 2 weeks after you receive it. Not 2 weeks from the due date. 6/27.

So you mark the day you get it and then send back to partner 2 weeks later.

Or you can contact your swap partner if you would like to have an extended visit with the traveler. You can work out the details with your partner.

I have a question about the journal.... are we making one or decoration a composition book/notebook or what? Me & the kiddos are going to make our tomorrow. Thanks!!

user7698 06/14/2007 #

I have uploaded 3 images of past travelers I have used.

I want to join for my son, but he's in Kansas City at the moment, and depending on when the traveler is sent, he may be at camp. If he is would anyone be opposed to letting the flat traveler stay an extra week?

ValSped 06/17/2007 #

YEAH we've been approved! Thanks Angie B!

I said no more swaps right now but I have to do this one. My daughter enjoyed toy traveler so much. That I will allow her to do this one. She is 11 and very creative and talented. When she gets home from camp I will have her start her flat traveler. If you get us we enjoy creative and unique travel.

TriviumLady 06/22/2007 #

FlatTravelingFamily,

We sent our Flat Stella today, but I just happened to review the description (above), and I see that I should have put our name on the back of Flat Stella (oops) and I should have sent a journal along with her (double oops). I'll let you know when I put the journal in the mail to you; my apologies.

ValSped 06/23/2007 #

We made flat Alex and his travel journal today, I think I had more fun than the kiddo! He will be in the mail to begin his journey on Monday.

TriviumLady 06/25/2007 #

FlatTravelingFamily, your journal is now on its way to you. :)

So, When do we leave feekback? When we receive our visitor or when we mail them back?

TriviumLady 07/13/2007 #

We have a bit of a situation...

We had not received our Flat Traveler by Wednesday, June 27, but as that was the mailing deadline, it was no big deal. The only reason I mention it here is because it is the day we left town for a two-week trip. So, we created a Flat Stella ourselves, and began our travels and our picture-taking and blogging.

The problem is, we actually still have not received our Flat Traveler. So, is it appropriate to send our Flat Stella to our partner, plus printouts of the blog pages? I want AngieB to let us know what to do, but others should feel free to weigh in here.

FairySweet 07/15/2007 #
