Description:

In the United States, Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States. For this swap, we will share one book with our partner regarding the US Independence Day in some way or US History.

John and Abigail Adams are absolutely interesting individuals of this time - I used this image for this swap. However, feel free to choose a book you enjoyed and one you think your partner will, too. Be sure to check their profiles for some help. Any genre, any time period.

Nitty Gritty: USA only swap (National 'n all - postage should be nominal). No newbies and must have been rated for at least 10 package swaps. New and Gently Used books are appropriate and participants must have a rating of at least 4.9 with no 'no-sends' whatsoever.

I can't stress this enough: ANY questions or comments, please feel free to ask!

This sounds super interesting but I have a love of books that others may find long and boring.

Well...as long as it has something to do with the US - it's in! Our history spans over 275 years and American writers are prolific! Anything from the Joy of Cooking (one of the first American cookbooks to use measurements!) to The Secret Life of Bees (modern novel about segregation, civil rights, and the South) to Thomas Paine or Thomas Jefferson or Thomas Kinkade (artist).

If your partner is into romance - try historical romance! Sci-fi...American writers mastered the dime novel. ;)

Anything that relates to the history of the United States - be it analytical or crafts with kids for the 4th of July is perfectly acceptable. Wikipedia and Amazon are good references for American authors on American subjects. :)

I hope this helps and I do look forward to swapping!!! :D
