Description:

Want to create one of these lovely I Spy Quilts for that special little someone in your life? I want to make a couple of them for Christmas so I need a little help from my friends! :-)

This is a swap for 5" charm squares of fabric suitable for "I Spy" quilts. That would be 100% cotton of good quality that has a fun or interesting print. For example, I recently got some that had baseballs, another with umbrellas and another with dogs. It can be either a print that is large enough that you can center an image in a square or a small all-over print that children could identify.

An "I Spy" Quilt is one made up of squares of these interesting fabrics and then children can have a great time playing the "I Spy" game and trying to find things. When you are making one it helps to collect squares from a lot of different people so that you get an interesting variety.

This is a very economical swap because 5" charm squares cost very little to mail.

So, lets send 5 different 5"charm squares to 3 partners each. You cut up 15 5" squares from 5 different fabrics with interesting prints and send them to each of your 3 partners. Clear as mud? :-) Ask away if you need more information!

Also, if anyone is interested in obtaining more squares, I will trade with any extra people who would like to. In other words...I will have my three partners but I will also send squares of my five different fabric to any others in the swap who want to trade extra.

Now have I really confused everyone!? I hope not...come play I Spy with me!

The not-so-small-print- In order to participate you must be a seasoned swapper with a good swapping history, no unexplained no-sends, no funky, weird history that might look suspicious, no random crankiness or unwarranted bad language. I will ban you from the swap if your swap history contains such weirdness! Or...if I just take an unreasonable dislike to you! Just kidding...sort of! :-) But hey...let's have fun! Ha-Ha-Ha!

Let me know if anyone is interested in swapping extra by having me as an additional partner!

I love I Spys!!! I am in a huge swap in another group where we all choose letters and when we receive our squares we have a full set A-Z...woohoo!!!

I've got this one in watch for now and will have to think a little bit on it:) I am used to swapping 6 1/2" I Spys Hum....well??? Wouldn't hurt to collect some 5" too now would it? lol. Would be pretty awsome to make a another type of I Spy:) May just have to give in and do this one too:)))

Ohhh...an Alphabet I Spy Quilt.....now there's an idea! Oh bother...now I am going to have to collect even more squares! :-)

I was doing 6" i spy squares for a while too... but those swaps seem to have stopped... I guess i will have to trim them down... I love the idea of an ispy quilt....

I did an I Spy baby girl quilt. The novelty squares were 4 1/2" (before sewing) and were surrounded by a 4 patch square. Here is the link and you could adapt it to any size square I'm sure. I used pink & white for one of the 4 patches and turquoise & white for the other 4 patch. Turned out pretty good.

I am okay with making them 6 inch if everyone agrees! I'll send a message to everyone and we'll see what we come up with!

I would also love to swap extras Ky. I hope to have a little more time this winter to make some more baby quilts for the NICU and PICU and the I spy quilts are very fun.

Ky 09/14/2010 #

Okay, I have messaged everyone to see if 5" or 6" are preferred, I'll report the results soon!

Ky 09/15/2010 #

Okay, the consensus is we leave it at the 5" charm squares.....most ladies said they were easy and didn't care....and then a few said they would go either way but would prefer the 5". (We won't tell who are the "easy" ladies! :-)

So....5 " it is....the hunt is on.

I'll swap some extras, too, Ky! I'm always looking for squares for my boys' quilts that I may finish one day:), hopefully before they are grown

I made a rag I Spi quilt once for a child starting kindergarten and it included numbers, letters, shapes, primary and secondary colours, animals and seasons such as Christmas, Easter, St. Patrick's Day and I was able to have an item in it representing every letter of the alphabet. The quilt even went to school for Show and Tell time.

I'm loving the idea of an alphabet I Spy Quilt more and more.....oh dear...that means even more squares to collect! :-)

Ky 09/29/2010 #

I'm sorry I was a little late in assigning partners ladies! Next time someone send me a virtual kick!! :-) Partners are assigned now, so send out those charm squares!

In fact, right now there is nothing difficult about picking the coolest spy app for yourself. I already know how easy it is to pick up an app now if you look here https://spyguy.club/ , you can look here and check it out. I hope I have been able to help.

A very creative idea. Being a spy doesn't mean you're doing something bad. I realized this when I went to the link https://theteensafe.com/iphone-spy-app/ and found out about spy apps for the phone. I can't be with my son all the time. And the application can show me the correspondence and calls from his phone. And I don't have to worry about my son and where he is.
