Description:

Please read this regarding postage.

By request this is opened up to international. For ATC's I hope this isn't an issue. The vast majority of us will still be USA/Canada. Please PM me before you drop if this is an issue, so I know. Thanks, I hope this works for everyone.

This swap is for ATC's made with vintage photos. This can be anything from vintage magazine clippings, to vintage photos, to a blend of some kind.

Use your imagination as to how you want this to play out. You can use any medium you like so long as you make ACT's that have vintage photos in them.

This swap idea comes from a previous version of the same kind of swap http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/9469

If you are new to ATC's or are curious about what they are a great site to read up on them is http://www.cedarseed.com/air/atc.html

This swap will be for 2 ATC's to 3 partners so you will make a total of 6 ATC's to send out. It's up to you if you make all 6 different, or if you make 2 designs and each of your partners gets the same thing.

As with all my swaps, I don't want to exclude newbies, so I'm trusting you will be an honest swapper and make good on sending your cards. If I find anyone flaking on any of my swaps I will black-list them from all my swaps forevermore.

Now the rules...

You must have a 4.5+ ratings or better, and if you are a newbie you MUST have a complete profile filled out.

Since I am way over my head with swaps for December and January this one will be set for March, which gives everyone a good long time to visit thrift stores, antique stores, grandma's attic, etc, to find the perfect images to use! A GOOD LONG TIME TO MAKE SOMETHING YOU REALLY CAN BECOME PROUD TO SEND!

Also since there is a good amount of time before the swap date please post the icon for this swap on your blogs and spread the word. Most crafters love ATC swaps, lets make this a big one!

I ask that everyone who participates takes the time to leave comments/ratings once you receive your swap. If the person goes above and beyond in any way please give them a heart, these are the kind things that keep this swapping stuff fun!

I also ask that if you really love what you get that you scan it and upload it to the gallery! It'll be fun to see everything everyone creates and receives.

Thanks for starting this swap---I was bummed that I could not join the European one!!!

cobaltgypsy 12/26/2007 #

This looks like fun! I've been making ATCs with old photos from my family (my great-grandmother, etc.)and I just love doing so! Can't wait for March! blessings, Gypsy

aladyde 12/27/2007 #

I think it is silly to make it just a US/Canada one. Why cant the world join in? It is much more fun.

CelestialFreak 12/27/2007 #

To aladyde: Because there was already a Europe only swap of this set up I made mine US/Canada, I suppose I could have made it the world minus Europe, but that didn't seem right either, and it didn't seem right to compete against an existing swap for the European swappers.

I do plan on re-hosting this one again and if the host of the European swap doesn't have any objections I will make my next one international.

Angeleyes 12/29/2007 #

This swap http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/9469 was not an european Version. It was international. Only there was hardly anyone to inspire. Then also here to a new.

CelestialFreak 12/30/2007 #

To Angeleyes; I'm sorry so few joined your version of this swap.

To all: please PM me if my changing this to international is a burden for you, I hope everyone is OK with this change. There are only a handful of international swappers requesting to join so the vast majority will still be paired with people Canada/USA.

To Aladyde I hope you will join, and to Angeleye, I'm glad you joined.

As soon as i read about the exact dimensions of an ATC and saw the personal collections a few of my friends have amassed i couldn't wait to have a go at my own ... about time i signed up for swap-bot, my beloved is starting to make faces at my ever growing collection of 'craftables' :>

thankyou for opening this up to new members :>

aladyde 12/31/2007 #

Thanks for opening up. I love to join in.

cobaltgypsy 12/31/2007 #

If anyone wants to see some more examples of ATCs using vintage photos, visit my site at http://gypsysattic.angelfire.com and look at cards I made using photo scans of my mom as a girl, and my great-grandmother. blessings and Happy New Year, Gypsy

CelestialFreak 12/31/2007 #

Cobalt Gypsy; thanks for the link, great cards!

CelestialFreak 01/ 3/2008 #

Due to the large amount of participants, is there anyone who will be willing to angel for anyone who might not for whatever reason get their swap? I've been monitoring as people join and this seems like a great group of swappers, I just want to be prepared just in case. If you are willing please PM me.

Scarlett 01/ 7/2008 #

Just in case anyone is having trouble finding vintage photos, I wanted to let everyone know that the National Geographic website has some great photos. Just as long as you aren't using them for profit.

CelestialFreak 01/ 7/2008 #

Scarlett; THANKS for the info! I'm sure that helps a lot of swappers!

dizzyliz 01/ 8/2008 #

I require an address to send my ATC's for Vintage photos. Please advise promptly.

CelestialFreak 01/10/2008 #

To Dizzyliz; partners have not been assigned yet. they will be assigned February 15th, and you will have the address for your partners then.

Are you referring to the other vintage ATC swap? Vintagephoto-Art ATC? I am not the host of that swap, you need to contact the host of that swap for questions on it.

CelestialFreak 01/10/2008 #

Here is another great link for finding vintage photos you can use in your creations...

Awesome, I have a great collection of old cigarette card I haven't known what to do with. This sounds perfect!

CelestialFreak 01/15/2008 #

old cigarette cards would be awesome I'd love to get my hands on some too! I think there are so many things I'd love to do with some of those more artistic cards.

CelestialFreak 01/30/2008 #

So far this looks like a great list of swappers! I'm really excited that this swap is so popular and that so many people like it enough to join.

Spectress 02/ 3/2008 #

Exactly what is considered vintage?

Scrapette 02/ 7/2008 #

Yeah, just how old is considered vintage? I don't want to use an old family picture and then find out my swap partners interpretation of vintage is different than mine.

CelestialFreak 02/ 7/2008 #

I would imagine anything from the 1950's back. Personally my favorites to use are from the 1800's to 1930's.

CelestialFreak 02/ 7/2008 #

The photo I used in the card up above there is from the late 30's/early 40's.

GypsyDyann 02/ 9/2008 #

I deffinately plan to use the OLD photos like late 1800's or turn of the Century 1900---Victorian through Titanic period. I was afraid everyone would be using 30's-40's and think me odd---looks like I'm okay then! I love it all so anything would please me, but I have huge collection of Victorian stuff. I'm in a reinactment group---and I make hats of the period with all the feathers etc! I can't believe this swap has over 100 people! Pretty exciteing! I'D BE HAPPY TO ANGEL SOMEONE IS SOME BAD PERSON DOEN'T SEND THEIRS!

ScrapTheSurface 02/13/2008 #

I will angel too.... I have made about 8 so far... Once you start you can't stop I suppose.

CelestialFreak 02/17/2008 #

I'm sorry, this weekend has been hectic for me. I'm currently looking through the list of people to make sure there are no bad swappers, as soon as I'm done with that I'll assign partners. This is a larger group so it will take a little longer then the average swap.

CelestialFreak 02/17/2008 #

Partners are finally assigned, thank you for your patients.

Please keep in mind that because this is such a large group I've tried to do my best to make sure there are only stellar swappers in this swap, however if for whatever sad reason you don't get your swap in a timely manor, please PM me. I have several people who've commited to being angels here so hopefully everyone will be able to be happy!

I hope I've been a good hostess on this swap and that you will let me know if you liked this swap by rating me, kindly, with a star.

Thank you everyone! It seems like a great group here. Ready, set, CREATE!

ScrapTheSurface 02/19/2008 #

I sent mine off today.....

towenby 02/20/2008 #

I was thinking of doing something from 1950's era magazines...is that vintage enough? :-)

towenby 02/20/2008 #

I was thinking of doing something from 1950's era magazines...is that vintage enough? :-) If not, I have plenty of photos from the 1800s I can use. Thanks.

CelestialFreak 02/28/2008 #

towenby; that's fine. I'm doing the same for one of mine.

GemMedia 02/29/2008 #

For my partners...1950's is vintage enough for me, even 1960's I would consider vintage!

crmc 03/14/2008 #

Hello, boatingbelle, Kimbeewa & Tipo0721. I mailed your ATC's out today. (At least it was before the very last day!) They're my first attempts at ATCs. Hope you enjoy - they're all photos of my Granny! Carlyn
