Hi! I'm Kelly! By education I am a mathematician and a philosopher, but I gave that all up to pursue my other passions. Now, I a WAHM & indie artist designing and creating wearable & usable art right from my own li'l sewing studio!!! At Kreated by Kelly you will find a variety of unique One-of-a-kind (OOAK), handmade, hippie, bohemian items made by me with love and care. I drape and draft my own patterns before bringing a creation to life. I have a deep love for detailed applique work because I can infuse all of my artistic skills in one piece through the process of bringing it to life. Each piece is unique and you'll never see another one like it smilesMy focus is on quality and conscious choices resulting in a beautiful handcrafted item made without sweat shop labor right here in the United States.
I will never limit myself to one type of item -- as I change and grow so do my tastes in styles and fabrics. Currently, my items seem to range from "hippie patchwork" items, skirts, messenger bags, tote bags, rompers, apron skirts, mommy & me sets, jumper dresses for girls & women, side-panel pants, wrap dresses, wrap skirts, candles, earrings, & boutique children.
I hope to be a part of some awesome swaps here!!!!
sewing, quilting, painting, drawing, cooking, candle making, soap making, crocheting, beading, bead making, scrap booking -- wowie, I have too many crafty hobbies smiles
The only show I live & breath for is Project Runway. My husband recently turned me on to Project Runway Canada too. I also loved the DIY channel when we had cable!! Oh, also, nobody knows this but I have been watching the same soap opera since I was like 10 years old -- call me shallow smiles It is "Days of Our Lives" I take my lunch break at 1pm everyday so I can watch it!!!
Hmmm, so I was thinking about telling you all what I like and dislike so I can be a good trading partner. Being a typical woman I want to say that I will just love any package in my box that isn't bills, but that doesn't make it easy to trade with me!!
I personally own at least 5,000 sewing patterns and have many duplicates. I went through a major collecting phase and I also used to sell them in my ebay store. These days I don't really look for patterns to buy unless they are for purses or totes, aprons, or vintage patterns with a hippie flair. I wear a size 18/20 in real life which means vintage patterns in my size are really really hard to find. Ahhh, I am rambling!! Let me do numbers for you smiles
I would love patterns that are: 1. vintage and will fit a plus size diva such as myself -- bust 44", waist 36", hips 43". 2. neat handbag, purse, tote patterns 3. boutique children's type
I have a studio full of fabrics, but who ever has enough fabrics?!
My favorite fabrics are: 1. vintage 2. reproduction mod 3. I love polka dots 4. I love hemp and hempcel 5. bohemian "flavored" like Michael Miller, Alexander Henry, or Amy Butler prints -- not saying I only like their stuff, but they have cool prints 6. I love "Euro" prints 7. Who doesn't love batiks, watercolors, & tie-dyes?!
I have a sick obsession with sewing trims.
My favorite sewing trims are:
1. vintage jacquards
2. eyelet
My favorite colors:
1. I love fall, I mean I LOVE fall and I love those colors: mustard yellow, burnt sienna, browns, greens. Oh my I LOVE REDS!!!!
2. Ok, you got me, I love pink too!!
**note, I just realized there really isn't a color I despise, but I do prefer richer colors to pastels (unless it is pink, in which case I adore pink smiles)
My types of clothes: 1. I like to be able to move in my clothes. I love peasant blouses. I do wear apron tops (corset backed) a lot, but since I am voluptuous they are always gathered under the bodice to allow me to breath so they are sort of like baby doll tops smiles 3. apron skirts 4. tiered skirts 5. patchwork skirts Okay, I will "out" myself. I am a walking advertisement for hippie-dom. People take one look at me and know I am a bohemian free-spirit mama.
I will update this more later smiles I feel super selfish talking about the things I like -- think I need to work on that?! Just message me and I will be happy to chat more if you have questions!

Thank you for helping me with my profile and thank you even more for visiting my blog. I was pretty erratic about posting and then we finished building a house between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I haven't gotten back to the blog since! And have had little time for crafts either. I'm hoping this swapping scene will get me going again. ~BG~
