Zuckerbaby

I am a 50-something Christian woman. I live alone, but spend lots of time with my mother, brother and sister-in-law, two sisters, two nephews, two nieces and one great-niece, Our family gatherings center aroung food, Scrabble, food, dominos, food, football, food, conversation and...food.

I taught music and pre-kindergarten classes for 13 years, but fell ill last summer and lost my job as well as my health. I am searching for creative outlets to boost my spirits as I work on recovery.

For items that are sized, I wear a 22. I also have very large hands, feet and head.

I enjoy R & B, jazz, classical, show tunes and bluegrass. My 30 year old nephew is encouraging me to develop more of a taste for rap. He may succeed.

The books I have read in the past year (mostly on my mp3 player, yeah!) include all of Jane Austen's novels, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series", Born Standing Up, some Henry James, David McCullough, Willa Cather, poetry and short stories.

My most recent favorite is "Enchanted". A few of the others are "Singin' in the Rain", "It Happened One Night", "Notting Hill", "Cars" and "The Music Man".

My currently running favorite shows are "Chuck", "The Mentalist", "Numb3rs" and "Charlie Rose".

I love to knit, especially with soft wools and alpaca yarns. I also enjoy cooking and baking, sewing and, most recently, digital photography.

I love bright colors and I am fascinated by interesting geometric designs. Yellow has been my favorite color since childhood. In recent years I've found myself combining my yellows with warm earthy shades of orange, browns and reds.
