My entire life I have had a fondness of hand written letters. My grandmother and my father both often write letters and send cards for every occasion. ..I have no doubt that this is where my love for correspondence began. As technology advances, I feel that the charm of the mailbox has been forgotten. A few years ago, I received a hand written letter from my daughter. It completely made my entire day. That evening I requested addresses, on social media, of anyone that would be interested in receiving something once a month sent to them the old fashioned way...to their mail box. I started with 5 people and 2 years later have 30 people on my monthly mailing list, many of whom have started their own mailing lists and have spread the joy.
I have become somewhat obsessed. I now spend most of my time sending postcards, note cards, handmade cards and small care packages to friends and strangers alike. I am always stalking stores for stationary and note cards and the craft stores for supplies to create something original and fun to send to my mail recipients. I am surprised at how enjoyable this process has become.
The thought of online mailing groups never occured to me until recently. I have wholeheartedly embraced this awesome concept. I am a member of sendsomething.net and postcrossing and have just discovered this amazing site. I am so looking forward to this next step in a very growing obsession.
Books...another great love of mine. I will read most anything, but lean heavily toward Science Fiction/Fantasy. I seriously love a good fairy tale written for adults. I also love Horror/Suspense...a serious guilty pleasure. I am always looking for good author or book suggestion...so please share.
I have been a crafter my entire life. I have a wide variety of interests and will try anything once. I do not remember learning how to crochet or sew. My mother was creative and taught me at a very young age. I almost always have a sewing and crochet project in the works. I have recently started up cycling from my local thrift stores. The idea of re-using and re-purpossing puts a major smile on my face. I love watching something old and discarded changed into something totally amazing. I love cross stitching (won several first place ribbons at our local Strawberry Festival) and am currently reacquainting myself with embroidery. I have a completely out of control fondness for anything paper. I love to make notecards, postcards, bookmarks, collages, and scrapbooks...this list could go on forever. I am also a mad journalist.
