Until recently, I was a meeting planner for a large corporation which went bankrupt. Now I try to find work as an office temp while I look for another meeting planning job. I volunteer as an educator at our local zoo; my personal favorites are the elephants, rhinos and the warthog. I have three little dogs at home.

"The Great American Songbook" songs by the pop songwriters of the mid 20th century---like Gershwin, Porter, showtunes, etc. I don't keep up much with the new music, but love to hear young artists re-interpret the old standards. My favorite performers are Barbra Streisand and Mandy Patinkin.

I like comedies that aren't too stupid, mysteries, historical dramas but I will watch anything that doesn't feature horror and violence. Especially on DVD

Project Runway, Top Chef. All the Dick Wolf shows, like Law & Order, Criminal Intent, Special Victims Unit. I also like the Food Network and Animal shows on National Geographic, Animal Planet, and Discovery Channel.

Quilting, wearable art, making things out of fabric. I have way too many sewing machines, which I use on a daily basis. I also have several embroidery machines and enjoy embellishing my quilts, clothing, and household goods (towels, nakpins) with embroidery. I even embroidered alter cloths for a friend's church.

I am an avid reader of mysteries. I favor the American "hard boiled" school like Robert Parker's Spenser novels, and female detectives like Sue Grafton's Kinsey Milhone and Marcia Muller's Sharon McCone. I love Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown's Mrs. Murphy mystery series. Janet Evanovich makes me laugh. And I like local Maryland authors like Laura Lippman.

I do occasionally read novels and biographies, but mysteries are my fave.

Anything chocolate. And fruit flavors like lemon and berries. I HATE broccoli and its relatives.
