Some things I enjoy are vegan cooking/dining, writing and playing music, music journalism, thrift/vintage shopping, exploring NYC, skateboarding, traveling, and reading nonstop.
I absolutely love anything retro/1950s - housewares, objects, photographs/drawings, and clothing/accessories. I collect old motel postcards from the '50s and '60s.
My favorite animals are owls, flamingos, other birds, fat orange cats, pandas, llamas and alpacas, and unicorns.
My favorite color is rainbow. Does that count? :) Otherwise, I tend to gravitate towards bright green/teal/turquoise/blue, red, black, white and gray. But seriously, for some reason I cannot resist anything rainbow - it's how I was in kindergarten and I never grew out of it.
I would prefer not to receive any body products, as some of them involve animal products or animal testing, which I avoid. I also do not use leather-bound notebooks. If you have any questions about whether something is vegan, please feel free to ask me. Thanks!
A few of my favorites are Elliott Smith, The Weakerthans, The Hold Steady, The Thermals, Cursive, The Anniversary, Mates of State, Ryan Adams, Arcade Fire, Neutral Milk Hotel, Wolf Parade, Husker Du, The Killers, and Bruce Springsteen.
My favorite authors are Douglas Coupland, Rick Moody, Tom Perrotta, and Chuck Palahniuk. Some of my favorite books by other authors are How Soon is Never (Marc Spitz), L.I.E. (David Hollander), Middlesex (Jeffrey Eugenides), The Lovely Bones (Alice Sebold), Geek Love (Katherine Dunn), The Every Boy (Dana Adam Shapiro) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky).
I tend to like the following types of books: 1. rock music history/criticism, 2. sociology, 3. postmodern novels that are critical of American society, 4. novels about the dark side of suburbia, 5. coming of age novels. I welcome recommendations!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Office Space, American Beauty, Thumbsucker, Little Miss Sunshine, Requiem for a Dream, The Neverending Story, Die Hard. I also love watching documentaries about subcultures and nerdy competitions of all kinds.
Gossip Girl, House, South of Nowhere, Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy
zines, making little paintings, occasionally using fun craft kits like I did when I was younger

P.S. My husband is constantly reading rock history books. Have you read Rock and the Pop Narcotic by Joe Carducci?
Hey, hey, hey! Thanks for joining the Amalgamated Vegan Society! We should be getting the first swap going in the next few days. It's good to have you!
Check out the new swap added to the group Indie Kids--hopefully it will be fun!
The first swap is up in the Vegans Kick Ass group!

Great! I'm glad you liked everything. :)
Hey. Just wanted to let you know the cd's arrived a couple days ago. I've only heard of two of the bands, so I can't wait till I have time to really listen to all of them. Your package is on its way. Let me know when it arrives. Thanks so much! :)
You're welcome. Be Le's is pretty good, and considering how veg-friendly a place OK can be, it's good to have an entire vegetarian restaurant in town.
Kiri -- I got the indie CDs in the mail yesterday. I can't wait to check them all out. Thank you! I mailed your books last Friday, so I hope they make it to you soon. Thanks again!
After much delay, and much anticipation, I am finally sending your package out tomorrow. Phew. :) I hope you enjoy it!
