I'm a quilter and mother of nine sweeties, five girls, 4 boys, ages 22yo to 4yo. I do a little crafting, but a LOT of quilting. I love to play with vintage fabrics of all types. Magenta is my current favorite color, with orange a close second lately, but I LOVE most colors. Shabby chic is VERY sweet because I love pastels, but brights delight me too. I just love C-O-L-O-R! I love to bike and swim. I'd travel a lot if the funds were available.
Elvis and Lucy fabrics delight me. They are just So funny! I often like the novelty fabrics (like I Spy fabrics) because they'll bring a smile to someone.
I want to try working with citrus colors sometime. I keep thinking of a pink and yellow lemonade quilt, or oranges with other citrus colors. I'm hoping to get enough scrappy yellow vintage sheets to make a sunny lemon quilt. The sheets with fruits are fascinating to me...who decided to put FRUIT on a sheet? It will make me hungry, but I'd love fruit on my quilts! I need to create...it helps me feel closer to our Creator.
I love vintage. The hundreds of hours I spent studying Country Living magazine still make me long for things with a history.
I'm glad to find Swap-bot, and I think this will be fun.~
You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle, Secondhand Lions, Indiana Jones, movies I can watch with my little ones.
My children are 22yo, 19yo, 17yo, 15yo, 13yo, 11yo, 8yo, 6yo and 4yo. Dh and I have been married 23 years and, yes, we are nuts...about these kids! They like novelty fabrics, Star Wars, Raggedy Ann, legos, anything pink for one and purple for another, orange for the 8yo boy, red for the 6yo girl. The 4yo loves princesses and "pretty things". The oldest ones like to decorate with blacks and greys.
I collect vintage sheet fat quarters, Civil War era calico buttons, tiny (1") perfume bottles, quilt fabrics, and thrifty vintage items. Even bits of sturdy OLD fabrics delight me.
I quilt a LOT and use gobs and gobs of fabrics. The girls quilt with me often. And, I've taught some of their friends to quilt. My friends give me their scraps and we use them up. No project is too tedious because I have HELP. :-D I enjoy finishing others' UFOs (UnFinished Objects) and often find them to do at thriftstores.
The girls have made several quilts also. They amaze me and learn SO much faster than I do! Their quilts are GORGEOUS and they delight in finishing them. I
I'm going to miss LOST. I laugh at Cosby and Everybody loves Raymond. I hate to admit it, but...I love Desperate Housewives and laugh hysterically at it! I like to try to figure out the illness before Dr. House. And, I watch Fringe. I miss the old mysteries like Jessica Fletcher's murder mysteries and Quincy.
My sewing machine faces the family room with the TV on the other end of the room. I really don't get to see much TV (I mostly listen), but I love to sit down at my machine with plenty to do and sew away...hours later realizing the distractions in the room helped me accomplish a TON!
Fruits of every kind. Healthy foods tempt me most although a dark chocolate MUST be -gone-!
I love to cook and read cookbooks.
We make a BIG deal out of birthdays and July 4th. I am patriotic. We celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Resurrection Sunday.
My little ones are easily scared by yucky or scary stuff, but love dress-up when it is animals or sweet things.
