I was raised to love and respect the mountains. At the age of 11 I climbed Mt Whitney (the tallest peak in the contiguous states) located in California in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was an elevation of around 14,500 ft. I carried a 40 pound backpack and sleeping bag and we hiked about 11- 17 miles per day during the 10 day hike/climb.
Standing on the summit after a 17 hour climb day was the absolute day I fell in love with mountains. Since that day I have traveled across the country and seen many of the mountain ranges at different times and seasons of the year.
They are always breathtaking and inspiring to me.
A few other mountains I have seen in person
Pikes Peak
A lovely drive but a bit hard on car brakes if you do not know what you are doing.
The Smoky Mountains
Quite lovely in the Fall.
I have also been to the Continental Divide which is lovely in winter but can also be a bit treacherous.
Probably one of the most beautiful mountain ranges I visited was the Grand Tetons.
We saw a lot of wildlife there.
I could look at mountain pictures all day. Hope you enjoyed these few I picked for you.
APDG ~ I Love Mountains! I've always experienced a certain awe when it comes to mountains. They really are breath-taking. The higher up you go on a mountain, the purer the air you breathe is, the clearer the sights you see. Mountains in general are just plain powerful. I've been blessed to live at the foot of two amazing mountains during my lifetime. I grew up under the watch of Mount Rainier, and currently can see it from my kitchen and bedroom windows. It is 14,410' tall, located in the Cascade Range in Washington state and an active volcano.
And now for Mt. Shasta, 14,179' tall, located in northern CA:
Hope you've enjoyed seeing my 2 favorite mountains!
Deco Profile Swap - Mountains - These pictures are from the mountains near where we used to live in Pennsylvania. We lived about half way between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, just north of the border with WV and Maryland.
