Bysen (Swedish pronunciation: [byËsÉ›n]) is a legendary gnome-like creature that haunts the woods of the island of Gotland, Sweden. He carries an axe. He is said to have committed a crime, and condemned to walk the Earth forever. He attracts people, making them get lost. Often he meddles with woodsmen, delays their transports, and tips loads of timber over. He often interferes with men in other ways and is accused of all sorts of mischief. The Bys often appears as a stump or an insignificant, little, grey man. Sometimes he wears a red, woven cap and an axe, because one of his tasks is to cut down Gotland's forest. This goes slowly however and sometimes only one tree per century is felled.
The first two pictures are of a rhododendron and a camellia in the same colors as those in my yard. The 3rd picture is of the daffodil and tulip fields in Puyallup, WA, at the foot of Mt. Rainier. I have fond memories of going there as children each year to see the flowers..
Ok, so I guess I was having a blonde moment and did not understand the instructions for this swap, so I am going to try again :)
This is the Amarok. It originates from Inuit folklore. It is said to stalk and eat anyone that is dumb enough to hunt at Some Inuit tribes say that "Amarok’s wrath is a fierce and terrible thing. Whispers abound of entire villages that have been decimated by enraged wolves after their inhabitants angered her. While pursuing an honest hunt and keeping loved ones safe are simple ways to please Amarok, he despises those who humiliate weaker opponents, revel in cowardice, or kill for sport. Additionally, those who kill a wolf, even by accident, have surely made an enemy of Amarok.. It also hunts alone, unlike other wolves. "

Amphisbaena is a creature from Greek mythology. It is an ant-eating serpent with a head at each end. Amphisbaena was spawned from the blood that dripped from Medusa's head as Perseus flew over the Libyan Desert with it in his hand. Amphisbaenae fed off of the corpses left behind in the desert.
