From India, Airavata is a mythological white elephant who carries the Hindu god Indra. It is also called 'abhra-Matanga', meaning "elephant of the clouds"; 'Naga-malla', meaning "the fighting elephant"; and 'Arkasodara', meaning "brother of the sun". Airavata has four tusks and seven trunks and is spotless white. It is also known as Erawan in Thailand, and can also be depicted with 3 or 5 heads.
These are a few of my favorite mythological creatures...
The first is the mermaid. She has the torso of a female human and from the waist down she is a fish of sorts. They are found in the mythology of many different countries and cultures. They are sometimes called sirens and are well know by sailors.
Second is the Phoenix, a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn by rising from the ashes of it predecessor. This creature is thought to have it's origins in ancient Egypt.
Lastly, is Medusa. Medusa in some stories was once a very beautiful woman, but was made hideous with snakes for hair when she pissed off Athena. Her story began with the Greeks and Romans. I like the Roman story better.
My family and I recycle and compast. We also take part in I heart Merced, which allows us to clean up our town or work on our parks. We use only organic products inside and outside out home this inlcudes our garden.
Recycle too, even in crafting I luv to use recycled materials ;-) Net bags produce comes in, cardboard from cereal or cracker boxes for a project BG ;-) Lace, trim, buttons from old clothes. Or a quilt made from the clothing of a deceased loved one ;-) RECYCLE ideas are eveywhere ;-)
This is for the ADPG Earth Day swap! If you eat one vegetarian meal a week you can greatly reduce the amount of green house gases from transporting meat, transporting feed for meat animals, and have some yummy greens/veggies/fruits in the process! I am a vegetarian everyday but would challenge everyone to try one vegetarian meal a week. :D
A frisky badger on a vision quest?! Now that is a story I need to hear! Your stories in your profile are incredible. We have a few things in common: I am also very connected with nature; it is in the world of nature where I feel most connected spiritually. I also love illustrated children's books and am teaching myself crochet. I have never taken part in therapies using the bowls, but I am really fascinated by it. Thank you for sharing so much in your profile; I really enjoyed reading it!

At home we limit water use and don't use disposable plastic water bottles or grocery bags.
