Hi! I am a college student in the USA who is going for a BFA in Art and Design. I live in a small town in upstate New York (so nothing like NYC, think more in the suburbs). Art has always been a large part of my life, and it is something that I love doing. I can't imagine a day without art. Exchanging art sounded fun, and I think its cool to connect to new and different people so here I am!
I am someone who generally follows through with my actions and tries to be the most reliable in terms of getting back to people. So if there are any long delays in receiving my items then feel free to try to contact me because it is most likely a postal issue rather than not making/sending the items.
So I listen to a lot of indie artists, including Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spektor.
But I am open to a lot of music genres and types.
I especially like to listen to a lot of kpop and k-indie too. Oohyo and Seventeen are my favorite k-artists. I do listen to so many groups though, and like music from Heize.
Other kpop artists include: -Red Velvet (love their concepts and songs!!!) -IU -Dean -f(x)
I also like the memes based around Seventeen.
I am open to any music suggestions/recommendations.
I love poetry a lot. It is very inspiring to me. One of my childhood books was "Love that Dog" which is simply beautiful but also heartbreaking. The narrative is written in poetry which I think is super creative.
I am also a fan of Edgar Allen Poe, and also 1984. The concepts are interesting.
I write a lot of poetry too, all based off of short little moments/feelings in life.
I also LOVE graphic novels and comics. Always good. Love a good comic.
In terms of TV, I am such a fan of animated cartoons. I am especially familiar with Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, and Over the Garden Wall. If you know Gravity Falls, I'd say I have a very "Mabel" personality once you get to know me well.
I also really like historical dramas on PBS. I have watched all of Downton Abbey, and I am currently watching Poldark.
I do watch anime, but my favorite would have to be Barakamon.
As for movies, a similar theme applies. I am a Ghibli fan and I appreciate how all the moments are so beautifully drawn. I also like how they are not afraid to capture moments of silence, of tiny actions and scenes in our lives that are just normal, such as the moment in Spirited Away where the main protagonist gets on a train.
I often go onto YouTube to watch short films, both live action and animated. I do lean towards animated though, with stop motion being particularly intriguing.
If you couldn't tell already, I simply admire any type of art, whether it be traditional, digital, collage, performative, etc.
I personally do a lot of pencil and charcoal drawing, and am currently getting into photography and Photoshop.
I've also recently gotten into embroidery, and want to continue to do that.
I have very few standards for what not to send, so please try to follow them if you can.
-no religious items thank you. I will respect any religion you have but don't try to convert me.
-Please no Disney
-Obviously no offensive and/or dangerous items
-please try not to send glitter. Very hard to clean up. It isn't the worst thing in the world, but try to avoid glitter if you can.
-I am of Chinese descent, , but I don't know a lot about China. So I would like to learn more about it if you have experience traveling over there or you are from there. Even language advice is appreciated (I don't know how to speak Chinese) Ultimately though, I like learning about different cultures in general and even different states or areas, so wherever you are from feel free to tell me about it!
*I will also be studying abroad in Florence, Italy next spring, so if you have any travel ephemera or list of Italian words I can use to scrapbook the experience, it is gladly appreciated.

-I also like to collect things such as zarfs(the paper coffee sleeves), and rubber ducks. Even random little things such as candy wrappers are fun.
-I also do a lot of music in my free time. I sing and play the guitar, ukulele, and now I'm learning the kalimba.
-My favorite art medium is watercolor, and I am also starting to learn Photoshop.(still a beginner with digital stuff).
