Response: Oh thank you! This little leaf brought all flavors of my Inner Critic for some reason (especially when I kept noting how pointy oak leaves are and mine was all rounded). One of the best things about swap-bot is someone loving something my Inner Critic gave me a bad time over. The persimmon themed hongbao have been some of my favorite. I always find different patterns when I get them, but these I just love and so perfect for autumn swaps! I love how they make ATCs into little presents :)

Comment: OMG!!! I LOVED everything you sent me!! The Celtic items were a fantastic surprise and I can't wait to listen to the CDs you sent. The small Buddhist items were perfect. I love prayer flags and want a ton so I can hang them about my room. The earring are wonderful, I love Kwan Yin and I have been looking for jewelry with her on it (as well as the Green Tara) Your ATC was beautiful as well as the origami cranes. The book is great to keep with me and the card with the Medicine Buddha will find a nice spot near my makeshift alter (space issue otherwise I would have a real one lol )Thank you so much! I think that was one of the best swaps I have gotten in awhile!

Response: I'm so happy you enjoyed the package and my breaking the swap rules slightly. This Buddha altar is so lovely, I'm really pleased with it. The panch puran contains fenugreek, Nigella seed, cumin seed, radhuni and fennel seed in equal parts and is great with lentils.

Response: I'm really glad you liked the watercolor/ink ATC. These have become a real theme for me lately and it is gratifying that others enjoy them as much as I do. The cranes; just allow yourself to fail (and collage with the failed cranes). I folded many with wings upside-down, etc. before I finally got them right... besides, they are one of only 3 or 4 things I can fold!

Comment: I had mixed thoughts about how to rate you. You mention that you have a lot of your packages go missing, so it just makes me a little leary. The ATC is beautiful and I like it very much. The fact that @RyeRye vouches for you weighs heavily in your favor. I can't believe you spent $18 to get this sent to me via express delivery!!!
Response: Despite your 'mixed thoughts' about rating, I am relieved to hear that your ATC arrived and pleased to know that you find it beautiful. In both cases (the one that was lost and the one that was received) I had picked an orange theme since you'd mentioned on your profile that it is a favorite color. I do feel that you've misunderstood what I've said about lost mail. I do not have a lot of packages go missing, but it has happened once in a while. It has also happened when I've been the recipient. Regardless of our desire to think that mail always arrives on time and intact, it doesn't. Sadly sometimes letters and packages do not arrive through no fault of either the sender or receiver. It hasn't happened often, perhaps half a dozen times since I joined Swap-Bot. Who knows what happens when mail is lost, sometimes we have a volcanic eruption to blame for lost letters, but most times we merely have a reminder of the impermanence of life itself. All in all, half a dozen lost letters/packages out of 315 (including those items that have never been rated and I can only assume that they arrived) that made it on the first try -- well, I feel that's a good record of postal systems worldwide working pretty well. I regret you are one of the 6 that haven't made it on the first try.

The little beads are not intended to be a finished bracelet so much as an assortment of beads you might enjoy for future projects. I also was hoping the wire on the earrings wouldn't be a problem. Anyway, I'm guessing it all was OK and I'm so happy you enjoyed your surprise package! I'd love to do a private swap sometime :)

Response: I understand! My Mom used to boil them until the house smelled bad, so I honestly hated them until just a few years ago when I tried them fresh from the farmers market, on the stalk. I did them similarly to this recipe and now they are one of my favorite autumn/winter veggies! I didn't discover how delicious beets could be until just a few years ago too! Response: Most excellent! That letter was so much fun to write :) Your kitties are pretty far apart in ages, so I was hoping that the two different toy types would mean they'd each love something. We get the nip & the mouse from Salty's Dog & Cat Shop, however, "Kitty Hooch" usually have a booth at the Saturday Market too (since you're in PDX too).

Response: Oh good, glad you liked them! We don't always (often) get to appreciate the "alpenglow" (the sunset against the mountain), so it is always a wonderful occasion when it is visible.

Comment: Thank you for the Japanese Garden postcard. I now plan to see if there is a similar garden to visit in the Denver area.
Response: I've never checked out to see if there were any types of botanical gardens in the Denver area when I've visited (mostly for work). Gardens & parks are one of the things I really enjoy seeing when I visit other cities. I have been to the Butterfly Pavilion outside of Denver and enjoyed it a lot.

Response: Glad you enjoyed the postcard, Linda! I haven't been camping on the coast in years (need to fix that next year). When I was growing up we often spent a week every summer camping along the central coast.

Comment: Hi Sherri! What a BEAUTIFUL portrait of the Buddha you did. You are very talented! I love that it was handmade, it means more than a bought card. Loved the quote too. Would like to talk to you more about Zen Buddhism sometime, I have a friend who just spent 2 years in a Zen monastery.
Response: I am so glad you liked the card. It was my first homemade one :) And I take no credit at all for the Buddha. The image came from an advert for Shambhala Publications! I have always liked it and decided to reuse it when this swap came up. It would be great to connect about Zen. Which monastery was your friend at? I have done all of my retreat practice (so far) at Great Vow.

Comment: Great to see Mt Hood again - we didn't get back to Cannon Beach this year so the visual's a nice reminder!
Response: Maybe it is because part of the time clouds cover it up, but I never get tired of the view of Mt. Hood. We went hiking several weeks ago at Ecola Beach after a nice lunch in Cannon Beach. Fun area, although very busy in the summer!

Response: Oh goodie! I'm glad it was a good package for you :) The beads said "sunset" to me and I couldn't resist sending you a beach rock from Oregon. As a child I drove my Mom crazy collecting rocks.
